Product Overview

Main purpose

Applied as a thermal and sound insulating panel as well as a suitable plastering background

Use it on

Internal or external walls and ceilings

Overview

The fibrous structure of Celenit NC boards means that an excellent bond between wet plaster and the board can be achieved, much like traditional "lath n' plaster" in old or historic buildings. Because the moisture is effectively baked from the boards twice during the manufacturing process; the material effectively becomes fossilised wood, capable of coping with problems that older buildings often present such as the formation of mould caused by cold surfaces and peaks in humidity.

Where to use it

Celenit NC is a natural and sustainable insulating material, made only with natural materials. It can be used on internal walls, ceilings, false ceilings and bespoke design solutions. The rough and coarse texture of the board allows for excellent bonding of traditional lime plasters with similar breathable properties.

The available stock size is 1200 x 600mm which is a common building material size adaptable for most applications, but special sizes are possible to suit project requirements.

What it does

Celenit NC Wood Wool Boards has a very good thermal benefit when selected for use as an insulating board, but what gives it a distinct advantage is the ease of applying wet plasters to the surface as a finish. It is produced from fir wood from sustainably managed forests and recycled materials such as calcium carbonate, which is the residual dust of marble processing. Celenit NC boards are made up of 48% wood wool and 52% mineral binders, mainly Portland cement and marble dust.

How it works

Because the fir fibres are mineralised during manufacturing (a treatment that retains the mechanical properties of wood but blocks the process of biological deterioration), the process results in an ecologically sound and very stable material that is virtually indestructible.

The boards have a high fire resistance and do not off-gas toxic fumes under extreme temperature. These durable, robust and adaptable features of Celenit NC make it possible to apply Celenit in practically any area without fear of product failure.

Why we love it

Because the boards are a simple product, they are a relatively inexpensive way to insulate an old building internally. The boards can be fixed or bonded to an array of backgrounds and then directly plastered with lime or thermal plaster to finish improve the insulation further.

Features

  • Kiln dried twice (25mm and above, Celenit NC)
  • Rough surface texture
  • Interwoven wood wool
  • Low vapour resistance

Benefits

  • Extremely high sound absorption qualities.
  • Provides a perfect surface for plastering.
  • Breathable fibrous structure perfect for problems associated with older buildings.

Installation Guide

How to Install

There are an array of methods to fix and install Celenit NC depending on the application area. If it is intended to install sheets as panelling over a timber or steel frame then fixings may be used to secure the panels.

If the boards are contained within a grid suspended ceiling frame sheets are supported by the frame which holds the panels in place.

Panels are cut in a similar fashion to cutting ordinary timber. Cutting blades like circular saws and table saws and manual hand saws will all work well.
