Description

Who it is for

This one-day training course is designed for people of any skill or knowledge level. For professionals already working in the construction sector or homeowners considering a new build or retrofit project, this course is ideal. An interest in energy-efficient best-practice building techniques is all you need.

What you learn

You will gain a much greater appreciation of the importance of airtightness, its benefits and how effective planning at the start can ensure a simple cost-effective airtight strategy. The course highlights typical challenges onsite and how to manage the various trades that interact with the airtightness layer of the building.

The course is delivered by our highly experienced and well-respected technical team, who have provided guidance on a number of award-winning low energy projects in the UK and Ireland.

The practical session is delivered by Roman Szypura, an expert airtightness installer from Clioma House, who has achieved airtightness results as low as 0.087ACH at 50pa.  The practical session introduces the range of Pro Clima tapes, membranes, primers and grommets but most importantly demonstrates helpful tips and tricks developed by Roman over many years of airtight installation.

What you will do

You will receive industry leading airtightness contractor training from highly experienced technical professionals, participate in a hands-on practical demo and observe a blower door test on our airtight demo house. You will be encouraged to ask questions throughout the session and are welcome to bring project plans/drawings with you on the day. We are happy to discuss specific project details around airtightness and moisture management and help in any way we can.

What happens on the day

Registration is between 09.30 and 10.00, during this time attendees are invited to help themselves to tea/coffee and have a walk around our Centre of knowledge to see low energy sustainable building products and models of typical build-ups.

The course is delivered in our seminar room at 10am. Before lunch you will be invited to step inside our purpose built airtight demo house.  The presenter will simulate a blower door test, with any leakage areas very quickly evident.  Carvery lunch is then provided in a nearby hotel.  After lunch the practical session begins where you will learn how to install  membranes and tapes as well as how to seal typical details around windows, pipe penetrations and joists.  The event concludes in the seminar room with a closing discussion and recap on key learnings.

What you will gain with this training event

  • Designing for airtightness from the outset
  • Which products to use for a given build-up or detail
  • How to manage the airtightness strategy from design to completion
  • How to avoid common airtightness mistakes
  • Importance of high quality airtight tapes, membranes and glues with 3rd party tests and certification
  • How to simplify the execution of airtight details with the latest product innovation

Post Training Follow Up

You will receive a certificate of attendance, product samples and full access to relevant pro clima product information including the latest data sheets and tutorials. You will also have direct access to our technical team to discuss any further queries you may have in relation to a specific project.

Additional Training and Events

With our vast experience supporting, using and supplying award-winning products on pioneering low-energy projects, we are in a unique position to impart our knowledge to homeowners, builders and building professionals. We run a comprehensive portfolio of training and CPD events which cover airtightness, moisture management and natural insulations.

Attendee Feedback

What you took away from this training (key points)

  • A new appreciation for the importance of airtightness both in building durability, occupant health and ensuring insulation performs optimally
  • How simple airtightness installation can be if designed in at an early stage
  • Ability to identify common failures areas in airtight design and installation
  • The intrinsic link between airtightness and ventilation
