Product Overview
Main purpose
Weatherproof window and door sealing tape that can be plastered over. For the exterior airtight/windtight sealing of windows and doors when you choose to pre-apply the tape to the window or door frame before it is installed into the building.
Can be used on
Concrete, masonry, timber, and wood fibre surfaces that have been primed with Pro Clima Tescon Sprimer or Tescon RP; PVC, metal and timber windows and door frames; all Pro Clima external windtight membranes and other membranes made from PP and PET.
Overview
Contega Solido Exo-D is an exterior airtight and weatherproof and windtight sealing tape. It is used before window or door frames are installed into a building. Contega Solido Exo-D can be plastered over. When pre-applied to the frame, the tape will be stuck to the side of the frame (not the front) where it can't be seen. This enables an easier installation due to not needing to seal into a corner. Provided it is pre-applied as intended, the tape is never visible after the window or door is installed.

What it does
Contega Solido Exo-D is specifically designed for the external windtight sealing of windows and doors. It will seal the gap between the window or door frame and the wall to ensure there will be no air getting in around the frames. Contega Solido Exo-D has a fleecy top layer which is an excellent key for plaster/rendering to be applied to the side of the wall (covering the tape) to complete the windtight seal for the window or door.
Why we love it
Pre-installing Contega Soledo Exo-D to the windows before they are installed makes the sealing of windows and doors neater and easier. With the other version of this tape - Contega Solido Exo, the seal is made after the window is installed, so up to 20mm of the tape will be stuck to the front surface of the frame. With Contega Solido Exo-D and pre-installation, the installer has no tricky sealing into and around corners, and the final finish/plaster on the wall can be any thickness because no tape needs to be hidden on the frame.
Contega Solido Exo-D sealing tape is a perfect alternative to the common use of expanding foam around windows and doors. Foam is a gap filler, not permanently airtight and may degrade after a period of time; Contega Solido Exo-D is fully weatherproof, watertight, windtight and permanent.
System Warranty
Pro Clima provide a limited system warranty, backed up with public liability insurance, for all airtightness system, roof and wall sealing system and construction products that they supply. A 10-year warranty is provided for these products when correctly installed in combination with approved thermal insulation materials and other Pro Clima system products. When correctly installed in combination with other manufacturers' products (not made by Pro Clima), a 6-year warranty is provided.

Installation Guide
Find an installer
Clean all substrates before sticking. Uneven mineral substrates may need to be levelled with a smooth finish before application (e.g. plaster or render). There must be no water-repellent substances (e.g. grease or silicone) on materials to be bonded.
The use of Tescon Primer RP or Tescon Sprimer is recommended before bonding the tape to surrounding plaster, render, block. stone or concrete.
Pre-installation method:
Contega Solida Exo-D tape must be applied to the window frame or door before it is fitted into the building. Ensure the frame of the door/window is clean and free from dust and grease.
Lay the window or door frame out flat with the external side of the window facing up. Remove the release paper from the narrow adhesive strip of the fleecy side of the tape. Position the adhesive on the vertical edge of the frame around the perimeter and then gradually stick it into place. The printed side of the tape will be facing inward towards the glass.
At each corner allow approximately 20mm of the tape to extend diagonally beyond the frame of the window or door. This allows the tape to be pinched together to create a neat corner fold or "rabbit's ear" that is fully airtight.
Installation after the window or door frame is installed
Once the window is installed into the building fill any gaps around the frame with natural insulation, and ensure the sill is effectively sealed with Pro Clima Extoseal Encors.
Remove the release strip from the unprinted side and gradually stick the tape in place on the window reveal. Leave enough slack for expansion to allow for relative motion between the frame and other building elements. The required slack can be achieved by sliding the tape inwards towards the frame a little before sticking it to the reveal; it will have a slight curve rather than be straight and taught. Then press the tape firmly into place using a Pressfix Tool.
