Overview
This is Auro’s solvent free Hard Oil. Made from natural oils it is suitable for interior wood and cork surfaces. It is suitable for both floors and furniture leaving a washable finish and long-term durability. It is a fully breathable oil which is virtually VOC free (< 1g/Litre).
Where to Use it:
This oil is suitable for interior use on wood, wood-based materials and cork. (Not to be used on MDF or cross-cut wooden flooring). It leaves a slightly honey colour and a slight satin finish. It is available in 2 different size cans – 750ml and 2.5 Litres.
What it does:
The Auro Pursolid Hard Oil 123 provides protection to your surface or can be used as a primer for very absorbent surfaces for follow up treatments with other Auro Oil or Wax products. The oil fills the pores of the surface and once these are fully saturated it protects the surface from dirt, water, grease etc… while allowing the surface to breathe. It produces a slightly honey colour finish.
How it Works:
The Pursolid hard oil should be applied thinly which will then soak into the surface and fill the pores. Any excess which is not absorbed should be removed within 30 minutes of application (at the latest). Allow to dry for at least 24 hours. The drying process is initiated by oxygen uptake (oxidation) so it is vital that there is sufficient ventilation during the drying period. Avoid exposure to dirt and moisture while drying. Drying delays can be caused by high humidity, low temperatures, exposure to liquids, or insufficient air supply. Tintable with Auro Colour Concentrate 150
Why we love it:
This product is a vegan friendly paint and it is ‘Safe for toys’ in accordance with tests DIN EN 71 Part 3.
All the ingredients are impressively fully natural and compostable.
Hints and Tips:
It is important to care for the floor with natural products to keep it looking its best, we suggest using the Auro Floor Care 437 for regular care and every so often a deeper clean should be done using the Auro Floor Care Emulsion 431.
Use a spatula when removing any excess that has not been absorbed – the excess oil can be put back into the tin for future use so there is no waste.
Safety first: There is a danger of spontaneous ignition of drying oils. Do not crumble used cleaning cloths and the like. Spread them out for drying or store them in an air-tight closed metal container.

Installation Guide
The oil can be used directly onto untreated timber. It can be applied by brush, roller, cloth or by spraying. The aim of the oil when treating wood is to fill all the pores so the wood is fully saturated therefore protecting the surface from water, dirt, stains etc… Two coats are generally recommended for a hard wearing surface with a very light sanding between coats (180 – 220 Grit) If the oil is fully absorbed due to the wood already being saturated, any excess oil should be removed within 30 minutes of application (at the latest) – a fluff free cloth or a spatula is best to remove any excess.
For previously Oiled surface the renovation is very simple; clean the surface as normal and apply a new layer of the Pursolid Hard Oil 123. Sometimes only part of the floor will need a renovation and just the worn parts need to be treated to blend in with the rest of the area. (If a different product was used a test area for compatibility should be done prior to undertaking a large area). If the area was previously varnished or painted the surface will need to be sanded back to bare wood again before oiling.
A colour can be added to the oil by using the Auro Colour Concentrate 150. The more Colour Concentrate that is added the darker the shade while still allowing the woods grain to show through. A maximum of 10% Colour Concentrate can be added to this oil.
The Oil has excellent coverage – 25sq/m per litre and is very easy to apply by brush, roller, cloth or by spraying. It is re-coatable after 24 hours. It can be thinned up to 30% with Orange Oil 191 if needed. All ingredients are fully declared on the tin and in the data sheet. For added protection, and a harder wearing surface a layer of Auro Hard Wax 171 can be used after this oil.
Tool should be cleaned using the Auro Orange Oil 191 and then rinsed using water and Auro Plant Soap 411 as necessary.
