Overview
Pro Clima Tescon No.1 is a flexible airtight tape for creating long-lasting airtight seals on airtight membranes and windtight breather membranes. It has been tested and proven to provide an airtight seal that lasts 100 years. Tescon No.1 is perfect for sealing overlaps, edges and penetrations as well as connections to most surfaces commonly found on a building site (primer may be required). It can be left exposed to UV and weather for up to 3 months prior to installing the final external finish on the building.
Where to use it
Tescon No.1 airtight tape will permanently stick to all Pro Clima interior and exterior membranes as well as any other membrane made from PE, PA, PP, PET and aluminium. Also permanently bonds to planed or painted timber, OSB, plywood, MDF, hard plastics and metal.
When used on wood fibre insulation boards (e.g. Gutex), concrete, plaster or smooth masonry, Tescon Primer RP or Tescon Sprimer should be used first to ensure good adhesion. If the surface is painted or may come away, detach or delaminate, we recommend doing an adhesion test first.
What it does
Tescon No.1 is a flexible airtight adhesive tape for airtight sealing membranes and airtight accessories on roofs, walls and floors.
The backing is very flexible and stretchy so it can be applied on curved surfaces or in curved lines without wrinkles. The flexibility is also great for sealing to OSB as the tape can be pressed more easily into the recesses of the non-flat surface texture. Sealing around pipes and cables is also easier with a flexible tape.
Tescon No.1 is 60mm wide; the perfect width for sealing overlaps with the recommended 25-30mm of tape on each surface.
How it works
Tescon No.1 uses solid acrylic glue. This type of glue is fully waterproof and unaffected by changes in temperature and humidity. It has high adhesion and excellent cohesion which means the glue stays together, won’t slip and can provide the longest lasting seal possible. Dispersion glue (used on competitor tapes) reacts to moisture causing the bond to break down relatively quickly (within a few months). Tescon No. 1’s solid acrylic glue actually gets stronger over time and is ideal for building projects in Ireland and UK due to it being unaffected by the wet climate and extreme weather conditions.
Why we love it
Tescon No.1 has been independently tested, by Kassel University, using accelerated ageing to prove the solid acrylic glue will last 100 years. Only Pro Clima have achieved this level of durability for airtight tapes.
After 24 hours, you will not be able to remove the tape.

Ensure all surfaces are dust, grease and silicone free. Cut a manageable length of tape or put your forearm through the roll to hold it and unroll what you need as you go. Remove the release paper and place the tape over the centre of the overlapping materials. Firmly press the tape onto the surfaces with a Pressfix Tool. Using a Pressfix ensures the maximum strength of bond is achieved.
Hints and Tips
